I’ve been at home with the fam since before Laszlo was born. That means Jameson, who is almost four, and I have been getting tons of quality time together. It’s been super awesome, with one exception: I’ve had a hard time finding fun things to do that are interesting for the both of us.
One of the things we like doing the most is building stuff with the Lego Duplo blocks. Lately we’ve gotten pretty creative, so I thought I’d post a few of the things we’ve been making.
The kid is totally into fire trucks right now so we had to start there. In our case we had an escalator/conveyor belt/ladder that we put on the back. But if you don’t have something like that you can just use blocks.
Cat in a tree
What would a fire truck be without a cat to rescue from a tree? I don’t think I’ve ever heard a real-life account of a Fire Fighter rescuing a cat from a tree, but whatever, it’s a staple rescue situation.
House on fire
I started with just a plain old house, but what we really needed was a fire to put out. So why not set the house on fire!
How they’re made
We’ve made a thousand other things. Maybe I’ll post post them if I get a chance to mock them up. The diagrams were made with the Lego Digital Designer software. It’s for regular big-kid Legos but it still works as long as you limit yourself to the basic stuff.
