So I just saw this interesting eBook over on Scribd called 50 Things You’re Not Supposed to Know. The book itself seemed pretty lackluster but there were a couple of interesting things that stood out to me. One of them was that “Many of the Pioneering Feminists Opposed Abortion.” The Author, Russ Kick, goes on to elaborate but here’s a little bit just to whet your palette:
The idea that feminism equals the right to an abortion has become so ingrained that it -.iiems ludicrous to think otherwise. “Prolife feminism” appears to be an inherent contradiction in terms. Yet more than 20 founding mothers of the feminist movement—who helped secure women’s rights to vote, to own property, to use contraception, to divorce abusive husbands —were adamantly opposed to abortion.
If the abortion/feminism debate isn’t your thing the eBook also tells you how to send mail for free ;) I don’t want to taint any discussion with my personal bias (I’m against abortion) so I’ll just leave it at that. What do you think\?
