How to Install a Font in Ubuntu 8, the Right Way

Posted on

I was perplexed at how to install a font in Ubuntu 8. I scoured the web and found out how but then I lost the link. Here’s basically what it said. (If this looks oddly familiar to you, please let me know so I can give you credit).

  1. Open the Run dialog by pushing Alt+f2
  2. Type the following command gksu nautilus /usr/share/fonts/truetype

L

Press the Run button

Your fonts directory should open

L

Created a folder called myfonts or something you will remember in the future

Copy your font into that folder and close it

Open the run dialog again

This time type sudo fc-cache -f -v to refresh the font cache

L

Press the Run button

That’s it, your font should now be usable.
