One of my favorite parts about Millard Canyon Falls is the drive to get there, with the road curving up the San Gabriel Mountains, then making a hard left to bend and slope back down into the canyon where it ends at a plentiful parking lot and the Chaney Trailhead. The hike up is short and easy. Both of the boys had no trouble going up and back down with plenty of energy to spare. The trail is fun and shady, heading through a small campground (with bathrooms), scaling a wall, skipping over a stream several times, dodging overhead trees, and ascending natural staircases. The waterfall itself, while meager, is pretty, and fellow hikers were kind and chatty. This is the second time I’ve been on this hike, and it has now become a family favorite.
