Go Man Camping Like Noah John Rondeau (But Not as Long)

Camp

Any man, in the right situation, is capable of murder. But not any man is capable of being a good camper. So, murder and camping are not as similar as you might think.

I was just reading How My New Social Life Saved My Marriage and the thought occurred to me that men need time to go Man Camping. This is something my wife has been encouraging me to do for YEARS but I have never done — I don’t get hints, alright. After 6 years of marriage, however, I’m starting to think that it may be about time.

Noah John Rondeau was a famous hermit who lived in the mountains. In a way he, and a lot of other hermits could be considered the greatest of Man Campers, living off the land and learning the ways of the woods. Although probably not very useful, their legacy may give us some insight into an important, and yet shorter practice for modern men.

Man Camping is heading out of town for a weekend to go camp by yourself in the woods without computers or crying babies and whatnot. It’s a great time to reflect, read, and cook yourself some Man Food over the fire. Ah, Man Food: we’re talking corned-beef hash, steak, toast, baked potatoes, beans. Whatever you can throw in the fire while you sit around and burn sticks.

That’s what I’m talking about. Man Camping.

I don’t think it’s the fact that it took six years for you to get a hint, rather I think you finally saw it on the beloved internet. Note to self: If you want the man to do anything find an article about it on the internet and email it to him.

So when are you going out of town? Not that I’m anxious or anything, but I have a list of chic flicks, some toes that need a pedicure and some serious scrappin’ to be done with the girls :)
